Assistant Pastor
With Responsibility For Children, Youth and Families

Join Us In Our Ever Growing Families Work

Cowplain Evangelical Church (CEC) is a growing independent evangelical church part of the FIEC, located in the south of England.

Due to our growth, we are now looking to add to our team by appointing an Assistant Pastor with responsibility for children, youth and families. You will be working with various teams of volunteers as well as working alongside our Senior Pastor and Eldership team.

We are looking for someone to spearhead the work and to bring direction, cohesion, training and vision to all the various ministries under the umbrella of children, youth and families both inside and outside CEC.

The role is split into three areas of responsibility:

  1. To oversee all the children’s work at CEC.
  • To lead and develop the children’s ministry.
  • To develop the children’s ministry teams by providing leadership, advice and training.
  1. To oversee all the youth work at CEC.
  • To rebuild the youth ministry and youth team. This has a pioneering element to it, but the future is bright with the many children that will come through from the children’s ministry.
  • Look at ways to connect the teens we do have and develop a strategy to reach others.
  1. To develop the work amongst families.
  • Set up strategies to connect families and parents in meaningful ways.
  • Run courses for families that helps them in family life and parenting.
  • Develop ways in reaching out to families in evangelism and connecting them to the church.

We expect the Assistant Pastor to have a passion for Christ, a commitment to the gospel and making it known, a love for the Bible, and a desire to encourage and build up God’s people. You would join the existing eldership and function as an elder of CEC. It is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a committed and practicing Evangelical Christian.

Encourage & Support Fellowship At Cowplain

We are looking for someone with a heart for people who has a desire to see people changed by the Gospel.

You will be working with teams of volunteers as well as working alongside our Senior Pastor and Eldership team.

It's an exciting time to join us with lots of opportunities for further growth.

The role is split into three areas of responsibility

  1. To oversee and develop all the life groups.
  • A programme of small groups already exists, but we believe there is much scope for development both in the areas of discipleship and fellowship.
  • To provide training for all small group leaders.
  • To look to connect men at CEC.
  1. To oversee and develop the pastoral care.
  • To take on the responsibility for pastoral care and develop our Care Team.
  • To set up and develop various counselling ministries to meet the needs of the community.
  • To encourage and support those more senior in age.
  1. To oversee the assimilation process and connecting people.
  • To develop a strategy to connect and integrate people.
  • To set up meaningful fellowship times for the CEC family.
  • To look at intentional pathways for people to grow and to serve.
